Armstrong died at his home Wednesday morning of heart failure. He had been ill the past six months.

He was born December 7, 1878, in Rockton, Ill. and moved to Panhandle in 1908. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of Carson County Lodge No. 1167 AF & AM.

Armstrong became interested in sports during his youth in Illinois and continued to be a loyal sports fan throughout his life.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lynn Armstrong, Weslaco; a daughter, Mrs. R.C. Forsyth; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lyford, Rockton, Ill., Mrs. Kate Bliss, Rockton, Ill., and Mrs. Blanche Lindholm, Fergus Falls, Minn.

PANHANDLE - (HC) - Mrs. Gardys Gridley Armstrong, 78, widow of A.A. Armstrong, died Wednesday in the Plainview Hospital. She had been ill since suffering a fall, April 2. Her home in Panhandle was at 406 Maple
A piano teacher here for more than 50 years, she was a member of the Fine Arts Club and of the Methodist Church, where for years she was a member of the choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. R.C. Forsyth, Plainview; two brothers, Melvin Gridley of Minneapolis, Minn., and Glen Gridley of Roscoe, Ill., and two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Maurice Armstrong of McLean and Mrs. Lynn Armstrong of Panhandle; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
