Lester Ray Franklin, 68, of Canyon died Friday,
Nov. 2, 2007, in Amarillo.
Mr. Franklin was born April 3, 1939, in Cotton County, Okla. He lived in Hereford more than 20 years. He moved to Canyon in 2000. He worked as a truck driver for many years. In Hereford, he worked for Tejas Industries as a diesel mechanic and then as service manager. He married Linda Clark in 1972 at Earth. He enjoyed camping, loved his dogs, and was a very loving and giving father. He was always looking for someone to help.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Marty Allen "Bucket" Franklin in 1982, and Lester Ray "Dallas" Franklin II in 1971; a sister, Virginia Hill; and two brothers, Bill Franklin and Eugene Franklin.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Debbie Scott and husband Mike Rios of Littlefield, Coleta Dawkins and husband Tony of Amarillo, June George and husband Bobby of Canyon, Charla Martinez of Lubbock and Larhonda Hill and husband Rick of Sudan; a son, Douglas Franklin and wife Becky of Amarillo; five sisters, Helen Smith of Scappossa, Ore., Juanita Posey of Spade, Joann Franklin of Littlefield, Doris Dickerson of Coleman and Joyce Surrett of Conroe; a brother, Roger Franklin of Coleman; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
