On reverse: "2nd Lieut Charles S Dyer Co H 9 Tex inf CSA Apr 13, 1862 Caney Creek Mounted Inf Vol Mary Waldrum Dyer."
Charles S Dyer was born 1828 and died Apr. 13, 1862. He married Mary Waldrum (1835-1862). Notes: Although Charles Dyer's final resting place remains unknown, he is nonetheless honored with a cenotaph in the Texas State Cemetery. Thanks to Rich H for this additional information.
