Porterville is now a ghost town, but for 18 years it was the only town in Loving County. It was named for Dr. Phil Porter.

Loving County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. With a population of 64 per the 2020 census, it is the least-populous county in the United States. Its county seat and only community is Mentone.
