Mt Hope Cemetery
Dimmit County,
Texas

Mt Hope is a public cemetery on land given by Levi and Matelda English in 1885. The first sections of the cemetery was under the
direction and care of the local Masonic Lodge #566. In 1979 the
management and care of the cemetery was changed to the Mr Hope Cemetery Association.
At this time the cemetery has over 1000 graves. Mr Hope is the second oldest cemetery in Carrizo Springs. The oldest being closer to the center of town a few 100 feet northeast of Highway 83 and Highway 85. There are many elected public officials as well as Law Enforcement from the different branches along with U S Veterans and First Citizens of Texas interred here.
17 known Texas Rangers rest here including Captains Levi English, Peter Tumlinson, and Alfred Allee
