Daniel L. Medina, 88, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at his home.
Dan was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents (Margarito and Guadalupe Loera) and his wife Olga, and is survived by his three children; Brigitte Coate (Steve), Hans (Rose) and Patricia Austin (Scott), 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and his 4-legged companion Tiger.
Dan was born on July 2, 1927 in McAllen and traveled the world in his youth through his work for NATO in Turkey and Italy and then in Germany for his tour of duty with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Afterwards, Dan set roots in Pontiac, Michigan where he went on to work for General Motors for over thirty years. He took great pride in the products his company built and in representing an American made brand.
Dan graduated from Oakland Community College and was an avid learner throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Mexico, playing golf and bingo, and "winning" in the casinos he often traveled to.
After retirement Dan wanted to go back to his roots and moved back to McAllen with his wife to live out their final years.Dan was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Viewing and visitation for Mr. Medina will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. Chapel service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. Burial will take place at The Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services were entrusted in the care of Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen.
