MISSION, TX - Escolastico Mendoza, 66, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen. Born in McAllen, Escolastico was a lifelong Rio Grande Valley resident.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having reached the rank of Sergeant. He served our country in Vietnam as part of the 11B Infantry. He enjoyed listening to Tejano music, wood and metal craft working and fish frying. He will always be remembered as a loving father and for his selfless service to his country.
Benito P. Mendoza and family and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Mendoza Jr. would like to send thanks and blessings to the man that saved Escolastico's life by calling the police and ambulance, on June 30, 2011 in McAllen downtown on Main and Ebony, when he had his stroke. They would also like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and staff of the following: McAllen Medical Center, Doctor's Hospital at Renaissance, Comfort House and Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, from 5-9pm with a 7pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home West Chapel. A Graveside service will be held at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 10:00 am. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
