James M. Pendergrass "aka" Mr. Wonderful, passed away on April 20, 2013. He was born on December 13, 1940, in Wasco, California.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Baade, and his parents Otto and Helen Pendergrass and two sisters: Florence Kay Pendergrass and Sandra Jay Pendergrass.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Pendergrass of Mission, Texas; two sons, Eddy Pendergrass and wife Anna of Copperopolis, California. and Scott Pendergrass and wife Eileen of Apple Valley, CA. "like a daughter" Phyllis Satterthwaite, Las Vegas, Nevada; also surviving are seven grandchildren, his brother Dave Pendergrass of Las Vegas, sisters, Joyce Eccles of Idaho and Ramona Shores of Texas.
Jim retired from Lockheed Aeronautical Corporation with more than 32 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force in the 1950's. He was a member of the American Legion Post #93, in Mission. He was an avid golfer and coached at Shary Municipal Golf course during the summer. He was devoted to teach children how to golf and make them to be better people. They referred to Jim as "coach grandpa". He also was the publicity editor the American Legion, and Shary Municipal, and Meadow Creek Golf course in Mission. Was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mission, TX. Jim loved to tell jokes. He will best be remembered for, "I need to tell you a story about my cousin Hayden; now this is a true story." Jim leaves this world trying to be the best person he could be and help anyone.
Visitation will be held on April 28, 2013, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. with memorial service at 5 p.m. at Ric Brown funeral home in Mission, Texas. Burial will be April 29, 2013, 11:00 am at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX. In lieu of flowers please make donation to the family. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission
