Harry was a carpenter for 40 years before retiring. He served under Gen. George Patton at Normandy and Northern France. He received the European/African Middle Eastern Service Medal and a bronze arrowhead. He married Jean Bennett in 1945 in Pennsylvania. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Lou Hughes and Peggi Lovett, both of Amarillo, Lynda Kelly and Patti Kiernan, both of Portland, Ore., and Nancy Tinkle of Colorado Springs; a son, Don Benson of Amarillo; two sisters, Virginia Rea of Ashdown, Ark., and Pearl Robinsons of Skellyton; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
