Dorris J. Kendall, 82, of Amarillo died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Joe Zillmer officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Washburn Cemetery in Washburn.
Mrs. Kendall was born June 12, 1927, to Henry and Mae Curl in Slater, Mo. She married James William Kendall in 1948 in Missouri. She retired as a security guard from Pantex in the early 1990s. She was a longtime member of Great Plains Western Church. Dorris was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Dunivan, in 2008; a son, Michael Kendall, in 1993; a granddaughter, Janna Jolley, in 1965; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Kendall; a daughter, Denise Alcorn of Amarillo; a son, Richard Kendall of Valle De Oro; two brothers, Harold Curl and Joseph Curl; two sisters, Lou Fizer and Neva Locke; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a special friend of the family, Lelia White.
The family suggests memorials be to PASO, 1523 S. Taylor St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
