William Daniel (W.D.) Chandler, II, formerly of Aubrey, left this life to join his father, mother, brothers, sisters, granddaughter and son-in-law on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Cates officiating. Burial will follow in the Blanton Creek Cemetery in Bagwell, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday at the funeral home.
W.D. was born January 21, 1937 in Tioga, TX, a son of William Daniel and Ada Lee Spraybary Chandler. W.D. and his family moved to Paris from Aubrey, TX in 1983, where he had been a cement contractor for more than thirty years. They bought the Novice Store, "W.D.'s Grocery," and ran it for nineteen years before retiring. His family said he never really retired; he was always working. He would tell Janis that she and the kids were his life; they meant the world to him. He is so proud of all of them. He would tell Janis, "everything will be okay; it'll all work out." He was loved and highly respected by those who knew him. He was a great believer in honesty and respect.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Clarence, Billy and Joe; two sisters, Ruth Morgan and Isabell Talley; a granddaughter, Cassie Reed; and a son-in-law, Ron Harris.
W.D. is survived by his wife, Janis, of fifty-six years; three daughters, Debbie Helton and husband Ray, of Blossom, Brinda Peters and husband Billy Joe, of Paris and Paula Batch and husband Jesse, of Powderly; one son, William Daniel (Dan) Chandler, III and wife Shawn, of Bagwell; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Nannie Jewell Frizzell, of Valley View; a sister-in-law, Pat Chandler, of Collinsville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons Brian Kimbrough, Daniel Chandler, Wade Chandler, Dustin Daniel, Charles R. McCoy and Cody Pool. Named as honorary pallbearers are Bobby Frizzell, Billy (Bebo) Chandler, Jimmy Doyle Chandler, Jimmy Kruger and Anthony Stout.
