September 9, 1843 - March 17, 1905
Columbus Formby served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was a member of: Company H, 17th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry. He enlisted on 12 Oct 1861 at Camp Moore, Lousiana and was mustered out on 26 May 1865. He never missed a roll call from enlistment through Feb 1863. On 4 Jul 1863 Columbus was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi and went from there to the prisoner exchange. On 12 September 1863 he was exchanged and sent to Company A 17th Louisiana Infantry, Thomas Brigade. On 26 May 1865 the 17th Louisiana Infantry was disbanded and Columbus was discharged.
