Ruth Waldrip, 88 yrs, 8 months and 1 day, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 12, 2016 at 1:06 AM at Denton Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren and caregivers.

Ruth was born on November 11, 1927 in Aubrey, TX to Charlie and Minnie Redfearn. Sharing a birthday with Veteran’s Day, she loved to joke that the flag was always flown on her birthday.

Ruth was a very gracious and wise woman. She always had a smile and kind words for all. She was a member of “The Ruth Class” at First Baptist Church in Denton.

In 1959, Ruth went to work at Sears Roebuck in the catalog department. She retired from Lone Star Gas as a dispatcher in 1984.

Ruth was known for her handmade crochet gifts, oil paintings, fresh apricot pies, peanut patties and her cornbread dressing.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Debbie and husbands, Bill of Athens, TX, and Jana Waldrip and Brandon DeHaan of Denton, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, two sisters, Donna Miller, Rosa Peeler and her ever constant companion Cat “Sunny.”

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Waldrip Jr., Reverend Edward Lewis Carroll, her parents, Charlie and Minnie Redfearn, brothers, Bud and Larry Redfearn, sister, Mary Titus and daughter, Sue Harris.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 6-8 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10: 30 on Friday, July 15, 2016 at DeBerry Funeral Directors with burial to follow at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Denton.

Ruth and her family desire memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4144 N. Central Ste. 750, Dallas, TX 75204, Denton Animal Shelter, 3717 N. Elm St., Denton, TX 76207 or a charity of your choice.

Ruth’s family would like to thank her loyal caregivers, Maria, Josie and Theresa, Heart to Heart Hospice and Dr. Bhangoo for their excellent care, love and support.
