The son of Jenothan Joel Morton & Lucille Durham of South Carolina.
He married Margaret V. Blackburn.
They were parents of Joel, William, Uriah J., Louisiana, Orleana E., Chloa E. & John Early.

Wife Margaret died in 1860 and Marshall married Mahala Adeline Childers. They were the parents of James Allen, Miles E., Marshall P., George B., Mary K., Benjamin P., Orpha K., & Charles M.
They migrated from Etowah, AL to Erath Co., TX in 1872.
