Captain Nicholas M. Gillentine was at the command of a group of Erath County Frontier Rangers (during the Civil War years) in search of a band of raiding Indians when ambushed at Dove Creek, southwest of San Angelo. Captain Gillentine was wounded in battle and was returned home where he would die of
infection from wounds suffered.

Beach Cemetery is named for his son-in-law, Benjamin F. Beach (1835-1926) and is located near Johnsville, Texas.

Cemetery is on private property.
