1796 - June 11, 1870
Born and raised in Kentucky, probably Nelson Co. First came to Arkansas about 1836, settling in Pope Co., then Crawford Co. about 1840. Came to Palo Pinto Co., Texas in late 1850's, settling on Palo Pinto-Erath Co. line. His home was raided by Comanche Indians in the fall of 1863 and family survived. Was buried in family plot long abandoned and neglected until a chain link fence was installed around it in 1982.
General Society of War of 1812, certified. William Reasoner was part of the 15th Regiment (Slaughter's) Kentucky Militia, fought at Battle of New Orleans in 1815. Also, enlisted earlier during the War in a regiment of Kentucky Mounted Riflemen. Later, while living in Arkansas, was called out for Federal duty while part of the 1st Regiment of Arkansas Mounted Gunmen during the Sabine Expedition (1836) under General Edmund Gaines to guard against Indian and Mexican hostilities on the border of Texas during the Texan War for Independence.
