Dorothy Houston, 85, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at a local medical center. Services will be held at 1:00p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with burial following in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born on October 5, 1925 in Holland, TX. She loved reading her bible and attending Christian meetings and assemblies. Another one of her favorite things to do was watch movies and spend time with her family.
Dorothy was a home health care provider for over 40 years and took pride in her work as she had a passion for caring for people.
Preceding her in death was her husband J.B. Houston; her sons Jesse B. Houston, Sr., Willie James Wallace, Danny Carl Houston, Sam Edward Wallace, and Freddie Wallace.
Survivors include her children; Lois Jean Stewart of Midland, Teddy Wallace of Dallas, Dorothy Harris, Patricia Dancer, Johnny Houston and Charlotte Houston all of Abilene; Jesse Houston, Jr. of Odessa; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
