Ruth was born to Thomas Jefferson Walling and Eleanor Stone Hardy in 1860 in Whitney, Hill Co., Texas.

Her 1st husband was James Madison "Matt" Hammons; they married, 31 Oct, 1878. He died at Ardmore, OK. in 1895.
Their children were;
1. Tommy b. 1880 Walnut Springs, Hill Co, Texas; d. 1881
2. Mary Ellen b. 4 Jan 1881 Walnut Springs, Hill Co, Texas; d. June 1962; married a Gilbreath
3. William Alex b. 3 May 1885 Whitney, Hill Co., Texas; died July 4, 1973.
4. Lula b. May 3, 1885 Whitney, Hill Co., Texas; d. Dec 3, 1961 Stephenville, Lowell Cemetery.
5. Emma b. 3 Dec, 1885 (daughter above has same birthdate, but different state, Okla.; m. Sterling Lee Sechrist Sept 26, 1901, Erath Co.; d. July 4 1973
(Both she and her brother, William Alex show to have died on the same day, and buried in the same cemetery, Barbee.
6. Sallie Bell b. 9 May, 1893 Abiline, Taylor Co., Texas. m. James Fletcher Anderson d. Sept. 1970.
7. James Madison " Jim" b. 12 Dec. 1882, Whitney, Hill Co., Texas. m. Letha Pearl Brown, Oct 13, 1907 Edna Hill, Erath Co, Texas. Died, Sept 28, 1960 Dublin, Erath Co., Texas.

2nd Husband was William Samuel Walling m. 18 Nov, 1896.
Their Children were;
1. Bette Alma b. 1898 d. Nov. 3, 1960 Buried at Barbee Cemetery.
2. Curtis Kennedy b. June 13, 1900 Lowell, Erath Co, Texas d. Nov. 27, 1974 at Slaton, Lubbock Co, Texas
