Obituary
Mary Frances Mills Avery was born on Feb. 9, 1925, in Carthage to Rodger Q. and Leona L. Johnson Mills. Mary married Vaughn B. Avery in 1941. They traveled extensively following pipeline construction, living in Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, England and Holland. They moved to Carthage in 1974. Mary was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Tulsa in 2009, to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John Alvin “Speedy” Mills; and two sisters, Josephine Watts and Dorothy Dailey.
