Henry W. Stuckey was 10 years of age when his parents moved to Lafayette County, AR. He farmed a few years, and in 1868 went into the mercantile business in Bright Star, AR until 1877, when he sold out, and relocated to Queen City, TX., and again worked in the general mercantile business.

In 1865, Mr. Stuckey married Louisa Dodd Hemperly, daughter of Edward Dodd, of Georgia, and to them were born 4 children:
Andrew Lafayette, Emanuel Oscar (1868-1916), Luster Victor Jennings (1870-1935) & Jennie.

His wife died 1872 in Arkansas, and he remarried in 1874 to his stepdaughter, Priscilla Hemperly. They had 7 children, only 1 of whom, Mae Belle, is living in 1889.

In 1861 Mr. Stuckey enlisted in the Confederate Army, and served until the close of the war, his regiment being on duty in Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas and Georgia.
