"PARTICULARS OF SUICIDE

Terrible Deed of Ex-Constable G. F. Dixon

SHOT HIM SELF IN BREAST

Lingered For Two Hours Before Death Came – Was Constable For Six Years.
Ex-Constable G. F. Dixon committed suicide at his home two miles east of Blue Ridge by shooting himself. The particulars of the sad affair as near as can be obtained are about as follows: It is said that Mr. Dixon had been drinking hard and some unpleasantness arose in his family Monday, and was renewed Tuesday morning and became so intense that the family left the house. Shortly after 12 o'clock he went into an east room of the house, put a pistol to his breast and fired a shot that resulted in his death about two hours later. General Dixon, as he was familiarly known, was constable of the Blue Ridge precinct for six years, and served as deputy sheriff for several years prior to being elected to that office. He was not a candidate for re-election this year. He made a most excellent officer, and had hundreds of strong friends throughout the county. Mr. Dixon was a man of a happy, genial nature, and was kind hearted and liberal to a fault. He owned a good farm, well improved, with a nice residence, and was in easy circumstances financially."

Grover C Dixon (1890 - 1947)
