Obituary
WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Scott Melton, 48, will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Family visitation will be Friday, September 9, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He passed away at his home on September 6, 2011.
Scott Melton was born on December 13, 1962 to Royce B. and Linda (Tolleson) Melton in Sherman, Texas. He married Cynthia Darlene Ludlam on December 6, 1986 in Gainesville, Texas. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro, TX and loved to attend Sunday School and enjoyed hearing Bro. Joe, teaching and preaching. He was also a member of the Whitesboro Masonic Lodge #263 A.F. & A.M. He loved golf, taking care of his cattle, and loved his Ford truck, his cat, "Dufus", and E-Z Mart cokes. As a teenager, he enjoyed coon hunting. He enjoyed sponsoring FFA shows and high-school football. He enjoyed his work at Peterbilt for 31 years. He was an avid gun collector. He was known to be very blunt, straight-forward, ornery and stubborn. He loved playing with his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Melton of Whitesboro, TX; sons: Kyle Melton of Denton, TX; and Tyler Melton of Whitesboro, TX; parents, Royce and Linda Melton of Whitesboro, TX; sisters: Paige Whitecotton and husband, Dale, of McKinney, TX; Holly Burns, and husband, Paul, of Sherman, TX; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Ludlam of Whitesboro, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Terry Sharber, Redgy Ramsey, Billy Schares, Kelly Perry, Johnny Newsome, and Bill Murphy.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Grayson County Home Hospice, P.O. Box 2306 Sherman, Texas 75091.
