Benjamin moved to Texas in 1846 with his
mother Susannah and his brother Samuel.
Benjamin was a stockman and furnished beef
to the army at Ft. Arbuckle during the Civil
War. He was once arrested and charged with
helping deserters leave the country but a letter
from General McCulluch cleared the charge.

He ran a steamboat trade on the Red River.

He was active in Whitesboro. Justice of the
Peace for several terms and a Royal Arch
Mason.
