Alma Adriana "Yaya" Tamez, 63, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 23, 2017, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Adriana's pride and joy were her three beautiful grandchildren. She loved going to the movies and enjoyed cooking for her family.
Yaya was a school teacher for 32 years and built solid relationships with her students. Her smile and charisma will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Yaya is preceded in death by her father, Jose E. Gutierrez.

Mrs. Tamez is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Noe Tamez of McAllen; three children, Robert (Celina) Tamez of Edinburg, A.J. (Dana) Tamez of Northbrook, IL, Rebecca N. (John) Alves of Katy, TX; three grandchildren, Hannah Tamez, Jocelyn Tamez, Joaquin Tamez; her mother, Belia Gutierrez of Pharr; two siblings, Arabella Thorpe of Houston, Alberto Gutierrez of Pharr; multiple nieces, nephews and her beloved and cherished friends that became family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, January 25, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
