Purple Heart

In April 1945 he went overseas and was placed in the First Marine Division. The 15th of June he was killed by enemy mortar fire on Okinawa and was buried there in the First Marine Division Cemetery. The Purple Heart which was awarded him posthumously has been received by his parents.
