MISSION, TX - GEORGE CROCKETT WEST, age 86, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends at the McAllen Medical Trauma Center. He was born on February 26, 1927 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Jesse Eugene and Sofia (Guerra) West.
In January, 1945 George enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during WW II for 14 months in overseas duty. On March 9, 1950 he married the love of his life, Patsy Ann. Together they had three sons.
George loved the outdoors and after retiring from Southwestern Bell spent his life developing and managing Westway Mobile Home Park in McAllen. He was happiest when spending time with his grandkids and spending time at his ranch.
He loved the Lord and devoted many years to serving on the Kitchen Committee for the First Baptist Church of McAllen.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Walter West.
Family and friends wishing to celebrate his life are invited to a family visitation Sunday afternoon 3 PM –5 PM at Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission or a celebration service Monday 9 AM at First Baptist Church in McAllen, with burial following at Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First Baptist Church of McAllen, RGV Food Bank, or a donation of your choice.
George is hearing the choirs of heaven and what a day that will be when we all go home.
