Leonard Thomas (Bill) Browning, Jr., 89, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away May 26, 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mr.Browning was born June 3, 1922 in Texarkana, Texas. His parents were L.T. Browning, Sr and Helen Bounds Browning. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Browning joined the U S Navy in June of 1940 after graduation from Texas High School. He was aboard the USS Antares at Pearl Harbor when attacked on Dec 7th, 1941 . He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Cabot in the South Pacific throughout WW II, participating in nine major sea battles. He retired from the US Navy as Chief Warrant Officer in June of 1961 and moved to Colorado Springs, Co. where he attended Colorado College . He became a realtor and broker in Colorado Springs. He was active in many organizations in Colorado Springs including the Kiwanis Club, Veteran Motor Car Club, Model A Ford Club, Winnebago Club and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joella Browning Pool and brother, Wm. Keith Browning

He is survived by his wife, Edith Lanier Browning, son, Richard Browning and wife Blanca, of Colorado Springs, daughter, Tana Browning and spouse Wm. Rasch of Manitou Springs, Co, grandson, Brandon Browning of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister Margaret Browning Richter of Shreveport, La., Brother, John R. Browning, of Texarkana. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Father David Richter officiating.
