MIDLAND Glen Richardson, of Midland, passed away Saturday September 29, 2007. He was born February 28, 1927 to David William Richardson and Margie Maye Branscum in Hamlin, Texas. After graduating from Hamlin High School, Glen went on to earn his Bachelors Degree at Hardin Simmons University, Masters Degree at University of Texas at Austin, and continued his education at Texas A&M University. Glen proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. On June 24, 1950, he married the love of his life, Mary Arnett in Big Spring, Texas. He spent most of his career as a professor of Chemistry at Odessa College, and Midland College. Glen was a 50-year member of The American Chemical Society. He was a member of Texas Junior College Teacher’s Association.
Glen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Midland; he was a Baptist Deacon, Gideons, Baptist Brotherhood, and The Boys Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Glen’s hobbies included farming and ranching, stained glass art, tutoring, and playing the piano.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Maye Richardson, and infant son, William Glen Richardson.
Glen is survived by his wife, Mary of Midland, TX; son, Paul Richardson of Beaufort, SC; daughter, Jo Kelleher of Baton Rouge, LA; and six grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, Alan, Sam, Ben and Nic.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at Ellis Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. October 3, 2007, at First Baptist Church of Midland. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Glen Richardson Scholarship Fund in care of Midland College, 3600 North Garfield, Midland, TX 79705, or the charity of one’s choice.
