David Anderson Floyd came to Texas with his parents, Reuben T. and Galazia Mayfield Floyd. His first marriage was to Mollie Hefner, daughter of Alfred Hefner. They were the parents of give children: John A., Charlie, Mattie, Terry and May Bell. After his first wife died, David Anderson later married his second wife Olevia C. Smith. They were the parents of Cora, Clyde, Norris and Lusta.

During the Civil War David Floyd served in Company H, Duff's Regiment in Texas. He was in the Calvary and surrendered on the Brazos River.

He loved music and play the violin and was a farmer.
