Wesley Young 'Wes'
11 October 1920 - 22 December 2010
Wesley Hendricks was born on October 11, 1920 in Anna, Texas to Dow and Mary (Powell) Hendricks. He passed away on Wednesday December 22, 2010 in Allen, Texas. He was 90 years old.
Wes, as he was fondly remembered, was a graduate of Texas A&M University. He served his country proudly in World War II in the United States Coast Guard. Wes married Ruth Ernestine Whitaker on November 24, 1955 in Jacksboro. They were extremely active in the community and their church First United Methodist Church. Wes felt a genuine desire to give back to his community which he did in many ways including being a member of the Lion's Club as well as past president of it. He served on the Jack County Appraisal board and was a former director of the Jack County Museum, Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce and Gladys Johnson Ritchie Public Library.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sisters Polly Hendricks and Gwen Williams and a grandson Wesley Mitchell Collins.
Among those who will remember him fondly and miss him include his daughter Margaret Collins and husband Larry of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren Laurie Collins of Melissa, Texas and Kevin Collins of McKinney, Texas; sisters Frances Lawrence of McKinney and Mary Dow Wright and husband Harry of Port Neches, Texas and brother Don Hendricks and wife Charlotte of Celina, Texas and well as many other extended family members and friends.
There will be a visitation on Sunday December 26, 2010 from 3-5 pm at Coker Funeral Home.
Services will be Monday December 27, 2010 at 2pm at First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
If so desired memorials may be made to Concerned Citizens; First United Methodist Church; Jack County Museum; Gladys Johnson Ritchie Library.

Ruth graduated from Jacksboro High School, earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from North Texas State University. She taught Mathematics at Jacksboro High School for over 35 years.
Wes and Ruth are interred in Oakwood Cemetery, Jacksboro, Jack County Texas.
