June 17, 1813 - May 3, 1881
Michael's actual birthdate is believed to be 8-Jun-1812 at Sölleris (now Selleris), Sachsen-Altenburg, Prussia (which of course differs slightly from the date carved on his restored gravestone) [Reference: "Geburts- und Taufnachrichten bei den Kirchen in Saara and Mockern"]. He married Justine Pilling on 19-Sep-1839 in Prussia (also given as Christine Billing in some records). They had two surviving children (Ernstine born 1843, Franz born 1845). The family emigrated to Texas in 1852, but Justine died on the trip from the Texas coast to New Braunfels (her burial location is unknown at this time, but believed to be around Seguin). Michael re-married on 11-Sep-1853 in Comal Co. to Gustina Heinig Leitsch (widow of Andreas Leitsch), and they had at least six more children. Michael & family are found in the 1860 and 1880 censuses of Comal Co. His death date is uncertain, but believed to be in 1881-1882.
