*KARL ROMPEL OVERVIEW

Karl Rompel Cemetery
Bexar County,
Texas

This is an old small family cemetery, located on private land in far northern Bexar County near the community of Bulverde, and just a short distance to the west-southwest from two other Rompel family cemeteries across Cibolo Creek (the county line) in Comal County. It appears to hold but two graves, for Karl A. Rompel and his son Emil. Interestingly, Karl was among a small group who joined the 1st Texas Cavalry of the Union Army during the Civil War. In former times, the bottomland on both sides of the creek was part of the Rompel family ranch. The cemetery is marked on the county map series by the Texas Dept. Of Transportation, but is not labeled with a name.
