*Obituary
Donald Lee Richey, 73, of Omaha, Texas entered his heavenly home on January 1, 2019. God allowed him time to tell people how much he loved and cared for them before taking his hand and leading him home.
Donald loved his family, friends and riding on his tractor. Some of his favorite things were Mexican food, football, thick steaks, suspenders, denim shirts, and tee shirts with a pen in his pocket. He was known to say thunder naw, good golly, dadgummit, and you-better-betcha. Seeing the Sequoia Forest in California, watching his grandkids and great grandkids play ball and going to squirrel camp were among his favorite things. If he got irritated he would take his boat and go home to watch westerns and chew Red Man Golden Blend. Don was a hard worker and a Navy veteran. He retired from Texas Pipe Coupling. When asked to give his wisdom on life on Christmas Day, he replied, “Love Jesus, then your family. Go to church, listen to the sermons and live right.” Donald is survived by his wife, Joyce; his daughters, Laurie Laney and husband Maxie, Carrie Bata and husband Amin, Heather Williams, Tammy Whitehurst and husband Davis; son Brad Thomas and wife Sherri; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lindsey Langford, husband Brandon and Children Aiden, Sophia and Piper, Jordan and Jansen Laney, Perry, Madeline, Samantha and Amelia Bata, Andrew Williams, Jonathan Whitehurst and wife Courtney and son Jackson, Kalee McDonald and husband Travis, Stephen Whitehurst, wife Jennifer and daughter Lanoree, Amaris Whitehurst, and Griffin and Chloe Thomas; his beloved siblings, Larry Richey and wife Betty, Janice Richey, Sue Gattis, Tommy Richey and wife Karen, and Nolan Richey and wife Patricia; and numerous nephews and other relatives. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Josephine Richey; and his brother, Rodney Richey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Omaha. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Concord Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Nolan Richey officiating. (SS, Row , Lot )
