Butch Petty of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, March 28, 2017. He was born August 30, 1958 in Pittsburg, Texas to William Howard and Anita Joyce (Madden) Petty. Butch was a member of the Mount Pleasant High School Class of 1976, a 20 year member of the Church of the Nazarene in Mount Pleasant, where he served in various capacities. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department serving for 20 plus years, continuing his firefighting service he served as the Chief of the 5-Star VFD. He was employed by the city of Mount Pleasant as a technician at the Airport.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Della Petty of Mount Pleasant, Texas, their two sons, Ashley Petty and Selena Pack of Mount Vernon, Texas and Joey Petty and his wife Summer of Scroggins, Texas; two granddaughters, Kayleigh and Tayler Petty; father , Howard Petty and his wife JoAnn of Mount Pleasant, Texas; sister, Tina Coleman of Tyler; brothers-in-law, Ricky Brown and his wife Cathi of Mount Pleasant, Texas; Darrell Brown and his wife Angie of Mount Vernon, Texas; sisters-in-law, Crystal Schane of Pittsburg, Texas, Karen Crumbley of Mount Pleasant, Texas and Tandra Collins and her husband Michael of Mount Vernon, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents, Karry and Helen Madden and Walter Oliver Petty and Carolyn Phelps. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, March 31, 2017 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel. Interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery in Omaha. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. (SS W, Row 1, Lot )
