Ray Kenneth Robbins, 77, went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2010, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.

Ray was born in Hamilton in 1933. He had a long and distinguished career in the field of law enforcement which included service as a Military Policeman for the U.S. Army, an Officer for the El Paso Police Department, a Detective and Captain for the Midland Police Department, an honored member of the FBI National Academy, and Chief of Police in Andrews.
He received his Masters Degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 1978. He retired from Western Texas College in Snyder in 1996 where he enjoyed a 25-year career as the founding professor of their Criminal Justice Program. During his years of service at WTC, he was awarded the prestigious Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation title of Piper Professor of 1986 for outstanding scholarly and academic achievement. In addition, he authored and co-authored various Peace Officer textbooks and manuals for several states including Texas, California, and Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Geniece Robbins; a brother, Charles Culbert; children, Brandy Copeland, Debbie Clark, Terry Youngblood, Ken "Skip" Craig, and Stephanie Robbins; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, 2022 N Center St. in Bonham.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at New Hope Cemetery in Gainesville. From Gainesville, travel south on FM 372 approximately 11 miles to New Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Ray K. Robbins Memorial Scholarship, Western Texas College Foundation, 6200 College Ave., Snyder, Texas 79549; Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W. Center St., Sherman, Texas 75090; or Reba's Ranch House, 5036 Reba Dr., Denison, Texas 75020.
