Funeral services for Curtis Ray Brooks, 82, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. No visitation is planned.

Curtis was born December 15, 1934 in Denton to Charlie and Leora (Johnson) Brooks.

Mr. Brooks married Juanita Sanford on June 10, 1955 in Gainesville. He attended schools in Gainesville.

Curtis was a member of Whaley United Methodist Church and worked for 47 years at the Commerce Street Store in Gainesville. He started working there while in High School and enjoyed his adult life working with the public.

Curtis loved his family and enjoyed the fellowships of many friends. He was always involved in all sports. His love of fishing, as well as playing Texas Hold’em with his friends, were highlights of his adult life.

Curtis and Juanita traveled to many countries during their married life. Many people called him a friend and he will be sincerely missed.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife Juanita of Gainesville; son Ronnie and wife Karen of Gainesville; Son Keith of Arlington; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Jean Hinkle and husband Ed of Gainesville.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roy Charles Brooks.
