January 8, 1863 - Johnson County, Texas
April 19, 1909 - Ada, Pontotoc, Oklahoma
He was lynched in Ada, Oklahoma, along with the notorious James Brown "Deacon" Miller and two other fellows for the murder of a local Ada man, Gus Bobbitt. He had led a hard luck life, but can't be excused for belonging to an organization of professional assassins, that for a record of blood crimes, probably has no equal in the annals of criminal history in the entire southwest. His son reported that in 1893 Jesse's brother Van was murdered. He avenged the murder and was acquitted. Then his first wife perished in a house fire, he also had a young son murdered.
