Heinrich Wesley “Henry” Schlittler, Sr
22 September 1858 - 2 October 1945

"Henry was born in Bern, Switzerland. He came to America with his parents in 1873, and settled in the Flint Creek community in Young County in 1877. Hr moved to Graham, Texas in 1890where he began carrying the mail.

In the beginning he was driving a stagecoach from Weatherford, Tx. thru Mineral Wells, Tx. to Graham.This is when he met Mary Jane Smethers.He later delivered the mail by horseback, buggy and stagecoach to Mineral Wells and Henrietta Mr Schlittler carried the mail to Murray, Bunger, andOil City before retiring in 1935. By which time he had worked under 8 postmasters in Graham, and 2 in Young County.

Henry and Mary celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary with, over 100 guests, on 2 December 1944.
