Douglas Clinton SPILLERS

Fairview Cemetery
Cooke County,
Texas

Douglas Clinton Spillers, born August 9, 1946 in Sweetwater, Texas, left this earth for his Heavenly reward on September 20, 2016, after an extended battle with cancer. His love of God, family, friends and people knew no end. He was a graduate of Midland’s Robert E. Lee High School and Abilene Christian University; he also attended Lubbock Christian College and served our Nation as a loadmaster on C-130 aircraft with the United States Air Force during and after Vietnam. For 37 years, students of the Shepherd ISD, Bridgeport ISD, Callisburg ISD and Collinsville ISD attended his classes and many look back on those days with true respect and thankfulness for the morals, values and life lessons that he taught along with the football, history or technology that he was required to teach by the state. He was a practical joker and loved making people laugh. He served as an elder with the Hillcrest Church of Christ congregation and touched many lives through his service. He is and will continue to be missed.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Spillers and Ruth Spillers. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 42 years, Marcia Spillers, of Lake Kiowa, his daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Gaston and Gary Gaston of Corinth, his sister, Wilma Sanders of Abilene, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ, extended family, and friends, whom he loved. May God, through His Spirit, provide peace and comfort to each of you!
Graveside service will be Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at Fairview Cemetery. A memorial celebration will be held at Hillcrest Church of Christ immediately following the burial at 11:00 a.m. The Spillers’ family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hillcrest Church of Christ in Honor of Doug Spillers.
