Mrs Dylis Lloyd Johnson, age 73 of Wesley Chapel, passed away Sunday, October 10, 1999 at the East Texas Medical Center Crockett.
Dylis was born August 16, 1926 in Widnes, England. She was born at home, at 39 Lacey Street. She was the first born to Richard and Anne Lloyd. Anne had seven children from a previous marriage when Dylis was born. Dylis had been a resident of Wesley Chapel since 1947. She caught the ship at SouthHampton, England. Tommie and the family met her at the train depot in Crockett in June of 1947. She was very proud of her British Heritage and was a member of the Church of England. She was one of the very few young women selected to go to the University to further her education when she finished school. When World War II began, and the young men were gone, her father took her out of the University to work in his brother's shop. Then men did not see the need for women to further their education.
