Mary Katherine Davis slipped peacefully into her heavenly home while surrounded by those who loved her on earth on October 16, 2016.
Growing up in Gainesville, Texas in a house built by her dad, she learned a lifelong love of music, the value of working hard and a devotion to family. In first grade she met the love of her life, Harvey E. Davis (Scott) and the journey began. They married after high school and while he was away serving in WWII, she did her part as a “Rosie the Riveter” and butcher. After the war, she supported the family while Scott finished his college degree then the family was off to Venezuela for several years before returning to settle in Norman, OK in 1958.
In the following years she was a homemaker, realtor and owner of an antique store. Her lifelong love and husband preceded her in death in 1982. Kate loved people, was a woman of great compassion and generosity and valued and put priority on family, friends and faith. She continually looked for ways to do special things with family and friends and to enjoy precious times together- playing cards, dancing, finding “treasures”, telling stories- her talents were many and her willingness to serve boundless. She fed the hungry, comforted the grieving and forgave those who needed forgiving. Time and tide which wait for no one slowed her body but not her mind which remained active until she drew her last breath. The words “I did it my way” were written with Kate in mind- she did- and will be terribly missed by those who loved her and counted on her loving them back.
She is survived by her daughter Dana and son-in-law Mike Glasscock, their children David and Sam Glasscock, Erin (David) Gallant; Her son, Scott and daughter-in-law Lynette Davis, their children Kristi (Brian) Moore, Tiffany (Jaron) Collis, Russ Davis, T. Scott (Robin) Davis, Andy (Becca) Davis; Her son Bradley and daughter-in-law Sue Davis, their children, Angela Lowry, Shonda (Adrian) Banegas, J. Scott Davis, Tommy Sue Davis, as well as twenty two great grandchildren.
She was greeted in heaven by her beloved husband, Scott, her parents, Gus and Monte (Lewis) Mask, her sisters Jewel Whorton and Doris Pulte and brother, J.C. Mask.
Her Graveside services will be 2:30pm Thursday October 20, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.
