When Charles Edward Koch was born on May 18, 1896, in Pennsylvania, his father, Robert, was 26 and his mother, Annie, was 18. He married Elizabeth Genevieve Van Colen on June 30, 1917, in Highland Park, Michigan. They had one child during their marriage. He died on December 21, 1981, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 85, and was buried in Carrollton, Texas.
