When John Franklin Bedwell was born on May 7, 1858, in Parker, Texas, his father, Kid, was 40 and his mother, Mary, was 19. He married Martha J. Dickson on March 3, 1879, in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He died on December 22, 1921, in Peacock, Texas, at the age of 63, and was buried there.
