When James Austin Eaton was born on December 18, 1875, in Peoria, Illinois, his father, John, was 30 and his mother, Jane, was 41. He married Janie Beebe and they had one son together. He also had two sons and one daughter with Hattie Alexander. He died on November 8, 1950, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 74, and was buried in Peacock, Texas.
