Miles was well known in Jack County. He served on the Jack County Commissioners Board in 1900, 1902, and 1904. He was instrumental in buying the County Farm (for $2,700, 000), building the Jacksboro Bridge, and various other bridges in the county. He is remembered for carrying out his public duties with integrity and honor.
