Joseph Parker Donges, 92, of Lawton, Okla., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, in Lawton, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 14, 2007, at Wilbarger Memorial Park with Rev. Ken Bersche officiating. Burial is under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Mr. Donges served in the U.S. Marines during WW II and was a retired fire chief for the City of Vernon. Survivors include one grandson; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Middie Gooch of Vernon; and one brother, Adam Donges of Fenton, Mo. Visitation will be held Wednesday Nov. 14, 2007, from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Veterans of Foreign War or Vernon Fire Department. -----alrightintexas writes: "Joe Donges was an excellent mentor for all men and women. Son of Adam and Etta Mary Donges, Joseph married Frankie Rodgers on 13 April 1941 in Henrietta, Texas. She gave him two sons: Larry and Butch.

When Joseph Parker "Joe" Donges was born on October 12, 1915, in Vernon, Texas, his father, Adam, was 35 and his mother, Etta, was 32. He married Frankie Dempsia Rodgers on April 13, 1941, in Henrietta, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on November 9, 2007, in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 92, and was buried in his hometown.
