J F Bryant Killed By Runaway Team
Joe F Bryant, a prominent farmer-citizen of the Burkett community was accidentally killed Tuesday morning, January 27th, in the neighbor of his home, five miles south of Burkett, when his team ran away. Mr Bryan was engaged in hauling wood and it is supposed the accident occurred about 11 o'clock a m. His body, almost lifeless, was found by Roger Keeney about one o'clock p m Tuesday and conveyed to the home of W A Smith, where death ensued shortly afterward. The manner of the fatal accident is not fully known. the jawbone was broken and the head was severely bruised. It is supposed he was thrown from his wagon, falling under the wheels, which passed over his head or he may have fallen under the horses' heels and was kicked or dragged,
Deceased was a worthy citizen, member of the Baptist church, had lived in the Burkett community about seventeen years, and would have been 45 years of age had he lived to June 28th, 1914. He is survived by a widow and five children. the remains were interred in the Howe cemetery on Wednesday
