When Leonard John Strait was born on December 15, 1915, in Brandon, Iowa, his father, Earl, was 39 and his mother, Mary, was 32. He had one son with Oriealice Lucille Scheurs in 1962. He died on October 8, 1994, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 78, and was buried in Carrollton, Texas.
