When Leah Rachel Richins was born on September 30, 1926, in Lordsburg, New Mexico, her father, George, was 30, and her mother, Leah, was 19. She married Jack Francis Blair and they had two children together. She then married on March 16, 2002, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She died on June 10, 2010, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 83, and was buried in Carrollton, Texas.
