Elizabeth Barnes Engel, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt passed away at home on November 30, surrounded by her loving family. Beth was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 14, 1950 to Ralph Barnett and Dorothy Weedman Barnes who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and the University of Arkansas. Following graduation she moved to Vancouver, Washington where she was employed with John Deere. She relocated to the Dallas area with John Deere in 1987 and retired in 1996. GWA, as she was known to her grandchildren, was all about family. Particularly over the past few years she doted over the grandchildren and their upbringing. Her passing leaves a huge void, which can only be filled by our many fond memories and the knowledge that she is at peace in heaven.

Survivors: her children: Holly and husband Jeremy Beckwith of Vancouver, Wash.; Heather and Ashley Engel of Carrollton, Texas; her companion for the past 15 years, Aaron Schrag; her brother Ralph Barnes and wife Carolyn of Arlington; nephew, Ralph Barnes III; and five grandchildren, Chase, Emily, Grace, Tommy, and Caden.

Visitation is Friday, December 3, 2010 from 12-2 p.m. at Metrocrest Funeral Home in Carrollton. Service 3 p.m. at Hilltop Cemetery.
